Bluegrass Specialty Surgery Center in Lexington, KY is seeking an OR Circulator Registered Nurse (RN) to coordinate and provide nursing care throughout the intraoperative phase. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other care team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

The role is full-time and on-site at our Lexington surgery center.

Qualifications

• Must have a Kentucky RN license.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum of one year of RN experience in acute or surgical settings.
• Previous OR/Circulator or ASC experience preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative safety.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide nursing care during intraoperative phase.
• Verify patient identity, procedure, site, and allergies.
• Prepare OR, equipment, supplies, and medications.
• Assist with patient positioning and monitoring devices.
• Participate in time-outs and safety protocols.
• Maintain sterile environment and document events.
• Assist with specimen handling and counts.
• Handoff patient to PACU with thorough transfer.

OR Circulator Registered Nurse (RN), Surgical Services DepartmentBluegrass Specialty Surgery Center is hiring an OR Circulator Registered Nurse (RN) for our Surgical Services Department in Lexington, KY.The OR Circulator RN is an integral member of the surgical team and is responsible for coordinating and providing nursing care throughout the intraoperative phase of the surgical experience. This role works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the care team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This OR Circulator RN opportunity is a full-time, on-site position at our surgery center in Lexington, KY.OR Circulator Registered Nurse Roles and Responsibilities:Coordinate and provide nursing care to patients throughout the intraoperative phasePerform and document thorough patient assessments prior to surgical proceduresVerify patient identity, surgical procedure, operative site, consent, allergies, and other required documentationPrepare the operating room and ensure appropriate equipment, supplies, medications, and instrumentation are availableAssist with safe patient positioning, skin preparation, and application of monitoring devicesParticipate in surgical time-outs and ensure adherence to established safety protocolsMaintain a safe and sterile surgical environment in collaboration with the surgical teamAnticipate the needs of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and surgical team throughout proceduresMonitor and document patient status, medications, specimens, implants, supplies, and intraoperative events accurately and timelyPerform and document surgical counts in collaboration with the scrub technicianCoordinate specimen handling, labeling, and transport according to established protocolsAdvocate for the patient and maintain patient safety, privacy, and dignity throughout the surgical experienceCommunicate changes in patient condition promptly to the appropriate members of the surgical teamAssist with patient transfer to the PACU and provide a thorough handoff to the receiving nurseSupervise and direct non-professional personnel as appropriate and delegatedFollow all facility policies, infection-control standards, regulatory requirements, and established nursing practicesRequired Skills & Qualifications:Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of KentuckyGraduate of an accredited School of NursingCurrent BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferredMinimum of one year of RN experience in an acute care or surgical settingPrevious Operating Room/Circulator experience strongly preferredExperience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) preferredKnowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, infection prevention, and perioperative patient safetyAbility to assess patient needs, establish priorities, and respond appropriately to changes in patient conditionStrong communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skillsAbility to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary surgical teamPositive attitude and commitment to providing safe, efficient, patient-centered careAbility to promote a favorable facility image with physicians, patients, families, and the publicBluegrass Specialty Surgery CenterAt Bluegrass Specialty Surgery Center, we go the extra mile to provide a great place to work that supports the overall wellbeing of our employees.
