Job summary

Doctors United Surgery Center seeks an OR supervisor to oversee staff and ensure smooth daily case flow in the operating room and radiology departments.

You will coordinate scheduling, organize monthly meetings, manage inventory and vendor communications, and support policies aligned with Joint Commission standards. This role involves end-of-day planning, staff development, and ongoing process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the OR staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
• Coordinates daily OR case scheduling with staff to ensure smooth workflow (OR & X-Ray).
• Prepares monthly call schedules.
• Prepares and conducts monthly OR staff meetings for all OR, radiology, and anesthesia techs.
• Communicates effectively with physicians to resolve issues and improve efficiency and case flow.
• Orders instruments and equipment for cases.
• Coordinates inventory quarterly across all OR areas.
• Assists with OR education by coordinating and/or delivering in-services.
• Prepares afternoon schedules for the next day.
• Supervises the evening shift for day-end case completion and next-day setup, including Radiology.
• Communicates with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by arranging repairs or orders.
• Communicates with vendors for supplies, equipment or instruments needed for cases.
• Coordinates with Materials and Sterile Processing to ensure supplies and instrument needs.
• Prepares and administers annual evaluations.
• Works with manager on hiring and orienting OR staff.
• Assists in revising policies related to OR functions.
• Assists in Joint Commission compliance activities.
• Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE.
• Enters data into MIDAS data entry.
• Enters data into Kronos timekeeping program.
• Assists with staff counseling as needed.
• Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.

• Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly O.R. staff meetings for all OR, radiology, and anesthesia techs.
• Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
• Orders instruments and equipment for cases.
• Coordinate inventory quarterly in all areas of the OR
• Assists with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
• Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
• Supervise the evening shift which includes coordination of the staff for case completions of the day and setting up for the next day. This also includes Radiology.
• Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues by coordinating ordering or getting repairs done.
• Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments that are needed for cases.
• Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
