Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking an Inventory/Case Cart Technician to pull surgical instrumentation and supplies for patient and procedure-specific cases. You will deliver to the OR and coordinate with Sterile Processing to ensure timely availability throughout the day.

Qualifications include 1-2 years in a clinical or sterile processing setting, an HS diploma or GED, and basic computer skills. Prior inventory system experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with shift supervisor and OR staff to ensure proper case supplies.
• Prepares case carts and stages surgical equipment per schedule.
• Tracks availability of instruments and coordinates between OR and Sterile Processing.
• Restocks supply carts and conducts reliability reviews for case carts.
• Participates in quality and service improvement initiatives as needed.
• Completes final review and prints schedules ensuring accuracy.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Communicates regularly with shift supervisor and operating room staff to ensure that proper supplies for each case are picked and delivered as needed.
• Completes surgical case cart preparation and surgical equipment staging activities.as determined by the daily surgical schedule. Based
• Conducts case cart supply and instrument return activities and observe results to make recommendation to clinicians or potential preference cards update..
• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Maintains adequate knowledge of surgical procedures supplies ordering and product placement.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the MedStar organization.
• Responsible for preparing and delivering complete case carts from preference cards for patient/procedure¬ specific surgical cases including add on case carts according to departmental standards to the Operating Room.
• Restocks supply carts in designated areas utilizing inventory control methods.
• Serves as a liaison between clinicians and supply chain to ensure coordination of necessary instruments supplies and equipment between OR and Sterile Processing.
• Tracks and monitors availability of equipment and instruments for procedures in collaboration with the members of the OR Team throughout the day.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and is not to be considered as all-inclusive.
• Participates in identifying and addressing supplies and instrument related deficiencies such as supply stock outs and non availability of instrumentation that may impact case cart accuracy for both supplies and instrumentation.
• Perform the final review and printing of the schedule to ensure all cases supplies and instruments were accounted for and pulled according to the picklist.

Minimal Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required or
• equivalent required

Experience

• 1-2 years Related experience in clinical or sterile processing setting; required
• Experience working with computerized inventory management systems preferred

Knowledge Skills And Abilities

• Ability to perform mathematic calculations including addition subtractions multiplication and division.
• Verbal and written communications.
• Ability to read comprehend and write the English language.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $18.40 - USD $29.74 /Hr.
