Job summary

Midwest Eye Consultants is seeking a friendly Technician to prepare patients and exam rooms for eye examinations, perform preliminary testing, and assist our physicians with a range of procedures. No experience is required; we provide a thorough training program to help you grow in patient care.

Starting wage is $15.00 per hour with increases based on experience, and we offer a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, and a 401k, plus holidays and PTO.

• Ability to follow instructions and work in a clinical setting.
• Customer service friendly with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for eye examinations by communicating the features and benefits of preliminary testing.
• Perform all preliminary tests and any doctor-requested tests for patients.
• Assist optometrist/ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
• Coordinate scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain inventory of supplies.

The Technician plays an important role on our clinical team by preparing patients and exam rooms for eye examinations, performing preliminary testing, and assisting our physicians with various procedures.

What We Offer

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for eye examinations by communicating the features and benefits of our preliminary testing procedures.
• Perform all preliminary and any doctor requested tests on all patients.
• Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
• Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
• Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
• Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead, and doctor(s).

Physical Demands (per ADA Guidelines)

• Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, hearing.
• Physical requirements: Light work. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
• The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
