Job summary

Hopkins Eye Center Pa in Greenville, SC is hiring an Optometry Assistant to support our optometrist with pre-testing, patient care, and data entry. Training is provided as needed, with part-time hours and potential growth into a full-time role.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and able to learn medical terminology and eye care software. Prior eye-care experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or two years of college completed.
  • Medical or optometric assistant certification is a plus.
  • Proficient typing and basic software skills (EHR, MS Office).
  • Ability to learn medical terminology and eye-care software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized pre-testing using diagnostic equipment.
  • Clean and organize examination rooms and equipment.
  • Enter and manage data in the EHR system accurately.
  • Scan and organize patient documents for records.
  • Generate reports and design forms as needed.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on treatments as directed by the doctor.
  • Coordinate between doctor and therapists to support care plans.

We’re Hiring: OPTOMETRY ASSISTANT - WILL TRAIN

Location: Greenville County, SC

Part-Time, opportunity to grow into Full-Time

Are you detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and passionate about healthcare? We’re seeking a dedicated Assistant to support our Optometrist in delivering life-changing care to patients with vision disorders. Will provide Training as needed.

Position Overview
  • Specialized pre-testing using advanced diagnostic equipment (visual fields, retinal camera, VEP, etc.)
  • Cleaning and tidying of examination rooms and equipment
  • Accurate data entry into electronic health records (EHR)
  • Scanning and organizing patient documents
  • Administrative support: Generating reports and designing forms when needed
  • Educating patients and caregivers on treatments as indicated by doctor
  • Coordination between doctor and therapists to support ongoing care plans
Ideal Candidate
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn medical terminology, technology and software
  • Friendly and professional bedside manner; ability to connect with people
  • Comfortable working with elderly, toddlers, and people with special needs
  • Experience in eye care is a plus (but not required – we’ll train the right person!)
  • Passion for helping people recover and thrive
