Job description

REPORTS TO: Director of Medical Services

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

CareSTL is seeking an Optometrist to join our team! The Optometrist provides preventive and therapeutic Optometry services for the patients of CareSTL Health.

Essential Functions

• Provides clinical care including but not limited to routine refraction, testing for muscle balance, examination and initial evaluation for ocular injury, slit lamp examination, application of tonometry, and routine examination of the fundus.
• Provides after‑hours coverage for urgent health care problems for health center patients on an on‑call basis.
• Participates in the health center’s Performance Improvement program and assists in the formulation and implementation of the health center’s health care plan, especially in optometry protocols.
• Practices evidence‑based medicine and patient‑centered medicine.
• Proficient in using electronic health records for clinical documentation; orders and reviews labs and radiology and clears all tasks promptly per organizational policies.
• Maintains the required Optometry Licenses, Certifications, and Credentials that are required.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Optometry school.
• Board Certified.
• Licensed to practice Optometry in the State of Missouri.
• Effective clinical and communication skills.
• Must have reliable transportation.

• Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
