Job summary

U.S. Army Medicine Civilian Corps seeks an Optometrist at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Texas. You will provide comprehensive eye care, manage refractive surgery patients, and supervise students and staff in a busy clinical setting.

Responsibilities include diagnosing visual disorders, applying advanced optometric procedures, and coordinating with staff ophthalmologists to deliver high-quality eye health services to military personnel and their families.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited program.
• Current full and unrestricted optometry license to practice.
• One year of professional optometry experience or residency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary eye care provider on therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and contact lens care.
• Manage pre- and post-operative refractive surgery care and occupational health consultations.
• Perform comprehensive visual and ocular examinations across diverse patient groups.
• Diagnose and treat ocular diseases and monitor ophthalmic equipment.
• Supervise interns and eye technicians; assist in pre/post-operative evaluations.
