Job summary

AvaMed Workforce is urgently seeking a licensed optometrist for a part-time assignment at a California correctional facility in Corcoran. The role is 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule across two weekdays, 7am–5pm, as an independent contractor.

Compensation is $110 per hour, approximately $2,200 weekly. Orientation is two weeks with flexibility. Duties include examinations, diagnoses, treatment, prescriptions, and simple repairs on-site per facility policies.

• Examination, diagnosis, treatment, prescription information, and simple repairs in optometry. (≤140 chars)
• Ability to provide timely examinations and referrals when needed.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and codes for optometry services.
• Maintain continuity of work from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Deliver optometry services on schedule and maintain patient records.
• Refer patients for advanced care when approved by facility leadership.
• Ensure continuity of care from initial appointment to completion.

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are inURGENT need of an Optometrist to take on a Part-time assignment at the correctional facility located inCorcoran, CA.

Position Details

• 20 Hours per week
• Location: Corcoran, CA
• Schedule: Flexible Schedule Any 2 day's during the week 7am-5pm (10/hr shifts)
• (Orientation 2 weeks, must be flexible)
• Rate: $110/hr ($2,200/weekly)
• Status: Independent Contractor 1099

Job Description

• a. Temporary/Relief Optometrist shall ensure that all ordered Optometry services will be scheduled consistent with the Optometry need. Once scheduled, service shall be delivered at the time scheduled unless unavoidable circumstances occur;
• b. Temporary/Relief Optometrist will provide examination, diagnosis, treatment, prescription information, and simple repairs only, in accordance with Business and Professions Code § 3041 et al;
• c. Temporary/Relief Optometrist will refer, upon approval of the Institution/Facility CEO/CME or designee, patient/youth for consultation, diagnosis, treatment(s), and/or surgery to CDCR/CCHCS contract physicians and/or healthcare facilities, Medical/surgical emergencies where contract provider(s) are not immediately available are exempt;
• d. Temporary/Relief Optometrist shall maintain continuity of all work performed from start to finish;
• e. Temporary/Relief Optometrist shall provide Optometry visual services and diagnoses and treatment for the following specific conditions: allergies, infectious diseases, and non-systematic inflammations of the conjunctiva, using diagnostic agents and topical products; e.g., miotics, lubricants, non-steroidal anti-allergy agents, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, antibiotic agents, and hyperosmotics, in accordance with Chapter 7 of the Business and Professional Code and National Standards.
