Job summary

BLANCHFIELD Medical Treatment Facility located at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, is seeking an Optometrist (Clinical) for a direct hire solicitation. The position requires a Doctor of Optometry degree from AC0E-accredited program, a current unrestricted license, and at least one year of professional experience in optometry.

Residency is an alternative qualification. Qualified US citizens will be considered; incentives may be authorized, including relocation, student loan repayment, and salary

Qualifications

  • OD degree from ACOE-accredited program.
  • Current, full, unrestricted optometry license in relevant US jurisdiction.
  • One year of professional optometrist experience.
  • Residency: one year completion of an accredited residency program (substitution not allowed)

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat patients with visual disorders and/or ocular diseases.
  • Monitor maintenance of ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
  • Annotate patient records through computer entry or forms.

About the Position: This position is located at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, BLANCHFIELD Medical Treatment Facility.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation


A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.


Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.


Student Loan repayment may be authorized.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirements for Optometrist (Clinical):

A Doctor of Optometry degree from an educational program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) at the time the degree was obtained.


License:

Applicants must have received a passing score on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NEBO) examinations and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice optometry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.


In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:


Professional Experience:

One year of professional experience as an optometrist which includes examining and treating patients with visual disorders and/or ocular diseases, monitors the maintenance of ophthalmic equipment and instruments, and annotates patient records through computer entry or physical examination forms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11)


OR


Residency:

One year completion of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
