Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, GA is seeking a part-time Optometrist to join the Department of Medicine Optometry Service. This 16-hour-per-week position is a Direct Hire solicitation with salary negotiation possible for those new to federal service.

The Optometrist will examine, diagnose, and treat a full range of eye conditions, participate in Vision Conservation, monitor equipment, and may serve as Chief in the absence. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital; Fort Benning, GA. Department of Medicine Optometry Service. This is Part-Time position that will work 16 hours per week. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major Duties
  • Treats cases involving ocular pathology and injury in accordance with approved credentialing by the organization's credentials committees.
  • Examines, diagnoses, manages, and treats a full range of eye and visual problems and ocular diseases.
  • Treats cases involving ocular pathology and injury in accordance with approved credentialing by the organization's credentials committees.
  • Diagnoses and treats any visual anomaly and specified pathologic conditions of the ocular adnexa and the eye.
  • Serves as Vision Conservation Officer performing a variety of duties as they relate to the Vision Conservation Program that deal with the eye protection and eye injuries of service members and civilian workers.
  • Monitors the maintenance of ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
  • Initiates request for needed replacement and new equipment IAW hospital policy.
  • Acts as the Chief, Optometry Service and/or the Chief of the Optometry Clinic in their absence.
  • Lifting: Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

Qualifications
