Work Schedule and Salary

Part‑time, 20 hours per week. Monthly salary range: $3892.00 to $5160.00.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye examinations using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity, perception, focus, and coordination.
• Diagnose ocular diseases and other abnormalities for incarcerated patients.
• Maintain order, supervise the conduct of incarcerated persons, and protect safety of individuals and property.

Qualifications

• Valid optometry license in the State of California.
• Minimum two years of experience practicing optometry.
• Eligibility to take and pass the examination for the Optometrist, Correctional Facility position.

Additional Information

Effective July 1 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) applies, requiring a 3 % salary reduction and allocation of 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027 for full‑time and part‑time employees.
