Job summary

Confluence Health in Washington state is seeking an Optometrist to join a collaborative eye-care team. You will perform comprehensive eye examinations and help manage post-operative and on-call cases, with clinic volumes around 20–30 patients daily.

You will enjoy a four-day work week with no evenings, weekends, or overnight duties, and you’ll be supported by an extensive benefits package. A sign-on bonus up to $5,000 is offered, with a transition to production-based compensation after 6–12

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited college of optometry.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Currently licensed to practice Optometry in the state of Washington.
  • Knowledge of optometric examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures.
  • Knowledge of patient education principles.
  • Relate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and staff and function as part of a team.
  • Speak clearly and concisely.
  • Type at least 35 wpm.

Responsibilities

  • Perform primary vision care, including examinations of the human eye and refractive powers.
  • Fitting lenses, prisms, and contact lenses as needed.
  • Diagnose and treat eye disease in collaboration with ophthalmologists.
  • Manage post-cataract and laser vision correction patients with ophthalmologist support.
  • Maintain ongoing continuing education and CPR certification.

Clinic volumes are designed to support quality patient care, typically ranging from 20-30 patients per day. This position offers strong earning potential that exceeds many traditional Optometry opportunities, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance uncommon in high-producing practices.

This position offers a sign on bonus up to $5,000.00

Please Note: This position offers an initial guaranteed salary, with a planned transition to a full production compensation model after 6–12 months based on established practice volume and productivity.

Performs functions as outlined, not to exceed WA state RCW 18.53.010.

Position Reports To: Practice Manager.

Essential Functions
  1. Perform primary vision care, including the examinations of the human eye, analysis of the vision system, and the determination of the refractive powers of the eye.
  2. Performs tasks to obtain prescription and also the fitting of lenses, prisms, and therapeutic or refractive contact lenses.
  3. Diagnoses and treats eye disease and works closely with ophthalmologist colleagues to provide the best possible patient care. Will always seek consult with an ophthalmologist or optometrist colleague on any case that is beyond personal comfort zone.
  4. Works closely with ophthalmologist in the management of post-cataract and laser vision correction patients.
  5. Works closely with the ophthalmologist to insure continuity of patient care as well as quality assurance on all medical eye conditions.
  6. Stay current through continuing education courses on improved treatment and management methods for all eye conditions and/or eye diseases.
  7. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  8. Understands and complies with code and evacuation procedures.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
