Job summary

The MedServ Group is seeking a Part-Time Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care to residents in North Creek, NY and surrounding areas. The role is a 1099 independent contractor with a flexible part-time schedule within skilled nursing facilities.

Responsibilities include eye examinations, managing ocular conditions, prescribing eyewear, and coordinating with facility staff to support residents’ visual health. Licensure in NY and OD degree are required, with geriatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• OD degree from an accredited institution.
• Active New York State optometry license in good standing.
• Geriatric population experience preferred.
• Strong clinical diagnostic and patient-care skills.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with EMR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for nursing home and long-term care residents.
• Diagnose and manage ocular conditions (cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye).
• Prescribe eyeglasses and other corrective lenses as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate EMRs and complete documentation promptly.
• Educate patients on eye health, prevention, and treatment compliance.
• Collaborate with facility staff and healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Follow New York State requirements, HIPAA regulations, and healthcare standards.

The MedServ Group is a growing medical practice that provides residents in skilled nursing facilities and long-term care settings with high-quality care. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care services to residents in the North Creek, New York area. The Optometrist will perform routine and medical eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, prescribe corrective lenses, and collaborate with healthcare staff to support residents’ visual health and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for nursing home and long-term care residents.
• Diagnose and manage common eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and other age-related ocular diseases.
• Prescribe eyeglasses and other corrective lenses as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and complete clinical documentation promptly.
• Educate patients on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment compliance.
• Collaborate with facility staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care.
• Follow applicable New York State requirements, HIPAA regulations, and federal healthcare standards.

Ideal Candidate

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current New York State optometry license in good standing.
• Experience working with geriatric populations preferred.
• Strong clinical diagnostic and patient-care skills.

Education & Credentials

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and an active New York State optometry license in good standing are required.

Compensation

Per-Patient Option: $40-45 per patient; approximately 22-25 patients per visit.

Percentage-of-Collections Option: 35%-40% of collections; approximately $1,050-1,200 per visit when seeing 25 patients.

All clinicians engaged by The MedServ Group are 1099 independent contractors.
