Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Optometrist role located in Brooklyn, NY. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, ocular health assessments, and contact lens fittings, while diagnosing and managing common ocular conditions. Responsibilities include educating patients on eye health, prescribing eyewear and contact lenses, and collaborating with optical staff to ensure accurate lens selection and fitting. The role also involves maintaining detailed and accurate patient records, adhering to clinical standards and regulatory requirements, and contributing to a welcoming, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical skills in comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions.
• Ability to provide patient-centered care, including clear communication, education on eye health and treatment options, and culturally sensitive service.
• Experience working in a retail or optical practice setting, collaborating with front-of-house staff to support seamless patient and customer experiences.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records and standard optometric equipment, with attention to accurate documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and current licensure (or eligibility for licensure) to practice optometry in New York State.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a steady patient flow in a busy on-site environment.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advances in optometry, diagnostics, and treatment options.
• Experience with managing or co-managing conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, and refractive errors is preferred.
