The role focuses on diagnosing and treating vision conditions while serving diverse, underserved populations in a collaborative clinical setting. The position involves independent work under general supervision, adherence to clinical protocols, and ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge in optometry.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted state optometry license in good standing.
  • Minimum of two years of experience practicing as an optometrist.
  • Strong working knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of testing and treatment for eye injuries and diseases.
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advancements in optometry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations while meeting productivity goals.
  • Conduct vision testing and diagnose refractive errors and eye diseases.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medications as appropriate.
  • Educate patients on eye health and preventive care.
  • Address patient questions with professionalism and compassion.
  • Document examinations, prescriptions, and treatments in the EHR.
  • Refer patients to ophthalmology or other specialists when indicated.
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Work independently under supervision while following clinical protocols.

Job Type: Full-time. Flexible on days and start/end times.

We are seeking a licensed Optometrist to join a team-based community health center dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered vision care. This role offers the opportunity to diagnose and treat vision conditions while serving diverse and underserved populations in a collaborative clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations while meeting established productivity goals
  • Conduct vision testing and analyze results to diagnose refractive errors and eye diseases (e.g., glaucoma, vision impairment, injury)
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medications as appropriate
  • Educate patients on eye health, preventative care, and vision correction options
  • Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and compassion
  • Analyze and communicate diagnostic results clearly to patients
  • Check prescription accuracy and proper fit of corrective lenses
  • Utilize ophthalmic equipment properly and report maintenance concerns as needed
  • Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care
  • Document all examinations, prescriptions, and treatments accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Refer patients to ophthalmology or other specialists when indicated
  • Participate in staff development, training, and ongoing professional education
  • Work independently under general supervision while adhering to standard clinical protocols
