Job summary

National Vision’s Eyeglass World is seeking an Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant (Part Time) to support doctors in providing quality eye care. The role blends fashion and healthcare, with Sundays off and opportunities to grow within the organization.

Ideal candidates may have retail/optical exposure and strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills to maintain patient records and assist in preliminary examinations.

Qualifications

• Retail/optical experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to learn optical knowledge.
• Clear and concise instruction to customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensures high quality patient care.
• Maintains a professional atmosphere and appearance of doctor’s office and pretest room.
• Understands ocular terminology and diseases and knows ocular abbreviations.
• Explains to the patient the types of preliminary examinations.
• Completes necessary paperwork and performs testing prior to doctor examination.
• Promotes visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Reviews prescriptions and/or patient information carefully and identifies special needs; consults with optician/doctor as needed.
• Fills out referral forms and follow-up paperwork as required.
• Maintains accurate and organized patient records.
• Ensures equipment is properly maintained.
• Orders and maintains supplies and pharmaceuticals as directed.
• Follows store and corporate policies and procedures.
• Participates in mandatory communications meetings to stay informed of policy changes.

What would you do? – The Specifics

• Orders and maintains supplies and pharmaceuticals as directed.
• Follows all store and corporate policies and procedures.
• Participates in regularly scheduled mandatory communications meetings in order to keep informed of changes in corporate policies and initiatives.
