Job summary

MyEyeDr. in Indianapolis is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Doctors of Optometry by performing preliminary testing and measurements to prepare patients for exams. Training will be provided for those without optical experience, and some weekend/evening shifts are required.

You will learn to use pretest equipment, document patient histories, and help maintain a smooth patient flow, ensuring a positive, welcoming experience for every patient.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with the ability to understand/basic math.
• Someone who is personable, patient and comfortable with screening processes.
• Detail-oriented and able to work closely with the Optometrist.
• Willingness to learn about the industry, products and services.
• Collaborative team player delivering the best patient experience.
• Healthcare/medical/optical background preferred but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients, document medical history and prep for Optometrist exam.
• Maintain smooth flow of patients to the Doctor and staff during appointment.
• Ensure patients are comfortable with office procedures during visits.
• Learn to use pretest equipment to perform visual screenings.
• Conduct contact lens training for applicable patients and other preliminary testing.

You Will

• Consult with patients, accurately document existing conditions and complaints, and chart medical history to prep for Optometrist exam
• Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the Doctor and additional office staff throughout appointment
• Ensure patients are comfortable with office procedures to which they will be exposed during appointment
• Through company training learn to use all pretest equipment to perform a range of visual screenings for patients prior to visiting with the doctor
• Conduct contact lens training for applicable patients and other preliminary testing
• Collaborate with doctor(s) and team members to provide seamless patient experience

About You

• High School Diploma/GED with the ability to understand/do basic math
• Someone who is personable, patient and has the ability to comfort patients during screening process
• Someone who is detailed oriented and who will work closely with the Optometrist
• Willingness to learn about industry, product, and services
• Collaborative team player that will provide the best patient experience
• Prior healthcare/medical/optical background preferred but not required, training will be provided for the right candidate
