Job summary

National Vision is hiring for a role that supports high-quality patient care in a fast-paced optical retail setting. The position requires bilingual English/Spanish communication, strong customer service, and the ability to learn optical knowledge while guiding customers through preliminary examinations.

You will handle paperwork, conduct pre-exams, and coordinate with doctors and staff while maintaining a professional environment and well-maintained equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure high quality patient care.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of the office and pretest room.
  • Understand ocular terminology and diseases and ocular abbreviations.
  • Explain to patients the types of preliminary examinations.
  • Complete paperwork and perform testing prior to doctor examination.
  • Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings.
  • Perform exam pre-screening.
  • Review prescriptions and patient information, identify special needs and consult with optician/doctor when necessary.
  • Ensure equipment (doctor and pre-test) is properly maintained.

Job description

What would you do? – The Specifics
  • Ensure high quality patient care.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of doctor’s office and pretest room.
  • Understand ocular terminology and diseases and know the ocular abbreviations.
  • Explain to the patient the types of preliminary examinations.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing on patients prior to doctor examination.
  • Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
  • Perform exam pre-screening.
  • Review prescriptions and/or patient information carefully and identify special needs. Consult with the optician, Doctor or Retail Management when necessary.
  • Ensure equipment, both Doctor’s and pre-test, is properly maintained.
Qualifications:

  • Previous retail/optical experience preferred, but not required.
