Job summary

PrimaryOne Health is seeking an Optometric Technician in Columbus to support our vision centers. You will obtain patient history, prepare for exams, and assist with pretesting such as acuity and depth perception under the optometrist’s guidance.

You will also train patients and staff on EHR workflows, manage glasses and contact lens services, and keep inventory. Occasional travel may be required; a high school diploma and 2+ years in the field are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years' experience as an optometric technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and records patient’s preliminary case history.
  • Maintains records, and schedules appointments/referrals.
  • Prepares patient for vision examination and assists with pretesting (distance/near acuity, depth perception, color vision, visual field, GDx/OCT).
  • Instructs patient in care and use of glasses; assists frame selection; adjusts, orders, and repairs glasses and contact lens; guidance under supervision.
  • Maintains inventory, orders exam supplies, invoices POs, schedules equipment repairs, cleans instruments.
  • Proficient with front desk duties and computer skills.
  • May assist in training of new hires (EHR training/guidance, onboarding).
  • Demonstrates attendance, professionalism, attention to detail, teamwork, and politeness to customers.

PrimaryOne Health is currently seeking an Optometric Technician for our Columbus vision centers.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Obtains and records patient’s preliminary case history.
  • Maintains records, and schedules appointments/ referrals.
  • Prepares patient for vision examination. Assists Optometrist in pretesting activities such as distance and near acuity, depth perception, color vision, and visual field/ GDx/ OCT testing.
  • Instructs patient in care and use of glasses, assists patient in frame selection; adjusts, orders, and repairs glasses and contact lens; instructs patients under the supervision of the Optician or Optometrist.
  • Maintains inventory of materials, orders exam supplies, invoicing POs, schedules equipment repairs and cleans instruments.
  • Proficient with front desk receptionist duties and computer skills.
  • May assist in training of new hires to the department, including providing EHR training/guidance, department or position-specific training, and general site onboarding.
  • Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors, and politeness to customers, vendors, and patients.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Successful candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum tow years' experience as an optometric technician preferred.
