Job summary

EyeCare Partners is seeking an Optometric Technician to assist in creating a world class Total Patient Experience. You will support the optometrist by performing initial testing and preparing patients for exams in a clinical setting.

The role requires experience in medical offices or ophthalmic environments, attention to HIPAA and scheduling, and the ability to operate ophthalmic equipment. Weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • Previous medical office experience preferred; ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a role interacting with customers/patients or equivalent education/experience.
  • Favorable background check as required by state.
  • Proof of identity and right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Total Patient Experience to build relationships with patients while delivering medical support.
  • Comply with company policies including HIPAA.
  • Practice urgency to respect patient and doctor time and schedule.
  • Operate ophthalmic testing equipment (lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, OCT).
  • Follow testing scripts for photos, visual fields, and activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness of examination equipment and work area.
  • Interact professionally with all staff and patients at all times.
  • Perform general office duties and assist manager as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented, patient-focused environment.
  • Commit to work hours including weekends or schedule changes as required.

SUMMARY

An Optometric Technician is a valuable asset to an optometrist as they assist in providing a world class Total Patient Experience. This team member is able to handle a wide range of duties while using optical equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Optometrist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA
  • Practice urgency at all times placing value on a patient’s time, as well as the doctor’s time and schedule
  • Operate manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX or OCT
  • Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.)
  • Clean all examination equipment including tonometer tip
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all time
  • General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by manager
  • Consistently creating a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused
  • Commitment to work hours that meet the needs of the business which may include weekends, schedule changes or an extended schedule
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Favorable result on background check as required by state
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required

LOCATION
  • Work is primarily performed in a standard office or clinical setting. However, travel to other locations may be required to carry out essential job duties and responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25-50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity - including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus is required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
