Job summary

Target Optical in Papillion is seeking a dedicated Optometric Technician for a part‑time store position. You will deliver outstanding patient service, assist with pre‑examination testing, and support the Optometrist with clinical tasks and lens/contact lens care.

The role emphasizes guest service, accuracy, and safe work practices, with pay set at $24.32 per hour and benefits including health care, retirement savings, PTO, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of strong guest service skills.
• High School Graduate / GED or equivalent experience.
• Strong communicator and listener to guests and associates.
• Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Strong interpersonal skills (friendly, caring, patient).
• Sales skills.
• Knowledge of store merchandise.
• Familiarity with cash register, computers and calculators.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests promptly when they enter the store and demonstrates urgency in providing service.
• Determines the reason for the guest’s visit; explains how to shop at Target Optical in store or in the doctor’s office, outlining required paperwork, tests, products and services and their appropriate time frame.
• Reviews prescriptions and/or patient information carefully; identifies special needs and consults with Opticians, Doctors or Retail Management when necessary.
• Shows patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult guests and patients.
• Performs work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and guest volume; resolves unsatisfied guests quickly.
• Demonstrates knowledge of appointment book/scheduling procedures and computer operation/procedures.
• Handles and files all patient records in an organized and efficient manner.
• Places contact lens orders, processes shipments and properly submits invoices for payment.
• Accurately operates the POS system, when required, collecting proper payment.
• Takes pride in the appearance of the store and initiates maintenance of clean, attractive and organized displays.
• Informs management of potential safety opportunities.
• Demonstrates safe work practices.
• Complies with all safety/regulatory requirements involving storage and use of supplies/chemicals.
• Performs all pre‑examination testing accurately and with attention to detail; explains measurements and answers patient questions.
• Utilizes clinical and product knowledge to coach and guide patients on the care and handling of contact lenses.
• Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory; provides clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.

Pay Range
