Job summary

Total Vision LLC is seeking a friendly, organized staff member to support front-desk and pretesting duties in our optometry practices. You will greet patients, coordinate appointments, and assist with pretesting procedures to support physicians and improve patient experiences.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, multitasking abilities, and comfort with ophthalmic equipment. High school diploma required; ophthalmic experience is a plus.

• Strong communication skills (oral and written) with the proven ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in utilization of automated equipment and systems standard to the optometry industry.

Responsibilities

• Greet incoming patients warmly and take them back for pretesting before the exam.
• Handle administrative duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments per doctor preferences, and transcribing messages.
• Perform pretesting such as blood pressure, NCT, color and stereo tests, and autoperimetry.
• Advocate for overall health evaluation (e.g., Optomap) to patients.
• Collect and relay pertinent health and ocular history to the doctor.
• Conduct contact lens insertion and removal training for patients.
• Order various types of contact lenses as needed.
• Maintain and clean equipment and doctor’s lanes; uphold supply levels.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

• Warmly greet incoming patients upon taking them back for pretesting before the exam.

• Perform pretesting including blood pressure, NCT, color and stereo, and autoperimetry.

• Order various types of contact lenses.
• Maintain and clean equipment and doctor’s lanes.
• Maintain proper levels of pretest/doctor supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Experience in the Ophthalmic/Optometric/medical industry is a plus but is not required.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time, read a computer screen for long periods of time, reach, and lift up to 20 lbs. Hand dexterity, and eye and hand coordination critical. Employee is subject to inside environmental conditions.

Employee’s schedule could include after hour projects, as needed.

Travel, as needed between practices. Saturday availability is required.

Compensation range for the roles is listed above. Applicable salary rangers may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. As a part of the compensation package, this role may include eligible bonuses, equity, and commissions.
