Job summary

Visionworks of America in Tampa is seeking a friendly Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to be the face of our exam practice. You will guide patients through the eye care journey, perform preliminary testing, and connect patients with optical products and services in a simple, human, and bold way.

The role emphasizes eye health knowledge, customer service, and strong communication. HS diploma or GED required; experience in retail or healthcare preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer or patient service preferred.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Experience in eye care or optical preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate patient records and perform preliminary testing.
• Introduce patient to the OD and relay important information.
• Transition patient from doctor to sales floor and educate on products/services.
• Support exam lane maintenance and patient experience goals (stock, cleaning, phones).

Pay Type: Part Time
Pay Range: $15 - $17.59 per hour.

The Role

A Visionworks Clinical Specialist (CS)/Optometric Assistant is the very face of our Exam Practice and is dedicated to ensuring the best possible journey for every patient. This person is trained and knowledgeable about eye health and preliminary testing, optics, our products/services and managed vision care. The CS personally takes the patient through the first steps of the Visionworks experience ensuring their eye exam needs are met in a simple, human and bold way.

• Maintain complete and accurate patient records before conducing preliminary testing
• Introduce patient to OD and provide OD with important patient information
• Transition patient from doctor to sales floor and provide associates necessary information to educate and recommend products and services that meet their eye care needs
• Execute day-to-day operational activities to support the store's exam lane maintenance and patient experience goals including restocking inventory, cleaning equipment, and answering phones to meet additional patient needs

Qualifications

• Related customer or patient experience preferred, but not necessary
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience

For roles that are remote (i.e., Work From Home (WFH)) or hybrid (i.e., partial onsite at a VSP location and WFM), must demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings to support effective communication and team alignment.

Compensation range for the roles is listed above. Applicable salary rangers may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. As a part of the compensation package, this role may include eligible bonuses, equity, and commissions.
