Opto/Mechanical Technician Level 2

Job Summary: Responsible for advanced assembly of optical systems for lasers, laser radars, and electro‑optical sensors and instruments.

Location: Irvine, CA. Position Type: full‑time consultant. Schedule: Hours from 10pm – 6:30am; initial training shift 6am‑2:30pm.

Compensation: Up to $30/hr base plus 20% differential depending on qualifications and experience, plus selected compensation package.

Essential Functions

• Advanced assembly of optical systems for lasers, laser radars, and electro‑optical sensors and instruments.
• Follow written procedures or drawings developed by engineers and suggest improvements to optimize production.
• Assemble and debug systems incorporating optical, mechanical, and electronic components.
• Test each level of assembly (4‑5 processes) at the system level using laboratory instruments (e.g., interferometer, Zygo).
• Audit 1‑2 work order kits from warehouse to confirm pieces and part numbers.
• Prepare subassembly components.
• Package the final assembly daily (if assembly is completed).
• Cross training is required (trainee and/or trainer).

Minimum Qualifications

• 2‑4 years of related experience.
• AA Degree, Technical Certification or equivalent (preferred).
• Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using measurement instruments (interferometer, Zygo).
• Experience entering data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
