Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in Playa Vista, CA to develop and scale precision spacecraft assemblies.

You will bridge design and production, creating fixtures, alignment tooling, and test equipment for robust build processes. You will own hardware from prototype to production, establishing inspection criteria and process documentation while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve manufacturability and reliability for space

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/optical/manufacturing engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in precision mechanical assembly, opto-mechanical integration or hardware development.
• Experience designing assembly processes, tooling, fixtures for complex hardware.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, Creo).
• Understanding GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and precision measurement techniques.
• Hands-on assembly, integration, and testing support.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fabrication and assembly processes for precision opto-mechanical spacecraft hardware.
• Own hardware builds from prototypes through production qualification and ramp.
• Design and develop assembly fixtures, alignment tooling, and test equipment.
• Establish optical alignment, calibration, inspection, and verification procedures.
• Collaborate with design to improve manufacturability, efficiency, and reliability.
• Create detailed work instructions, procedures, and inspection criteria.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, optical, and electromechanical assembly issues.
• Perform tolerance analysis and evaluate critical alignment/interface requirements.
• Support environmental and functional testing (vibration, thermal cycling, optical performance).
• Drive continuous improvements in yield, repeatability, quality, and throughput.
