Job summary

Fresh Consulting is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer for a long-term vendor role in Redmond, WA. You will contribute to precision opto-mechanical design, CAD modelling, drawing release, fixture design, and BOM/PLM upkeep across NX and related CAD tools.

The role requires strong skills in tolerance analysis, fixture design, and BOM management, with preferred experience in optical assemblies and high-tolerance mechanisms. The position offers an engaging, design-led environment.

Qualifications

• Part and assembly modelling in NX or equivalent with ability to ramp on NX.
• 2D drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5); release-quality output.
• Tolerance analysis at part and assembly level.
• Fixture and tooling design for assembly, inspection, or test.
• BOM management and change control in a PLM system (Teamcenter preferred; Windchill, Enovia, or Arena acceptable).
• Working knowledge of machining, molding, and sheet metal DFM.

Role

Contract mechanical engineer supporting precision opto-mechanical design and build activities. Scope covers CAD modelling, drawing release, fixture design, and BOM/PLM upkeep.

• Part and assembly modelling in Siemens NX (Creo, SolidWorks, or CATIA acceptable in place of NX, with ability to ramp on NX)
• 2D drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5); release-quality output
• Tolerance analysis at part and assembly level
• Fixture and tooling design for assembly, inspection, or test
• BOM management and change control in a PLM system (Teamcenter preferred; Windchill, Enovia, or Arena acceptable in place of Teamcenter)
• Working knowledge of machining, molding, and sheet metal DFM

Preferred Qualifications

• Opto-mechanical design: mounting and constraining optical components; low-stress and kinematic mounting
• Fixtures for optical assembly, alignment, or measurement (multi-axis adjustment, bonding, inspection)
• Precision mechanisms or high-tolerance assembly experience

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Range is $70-$80 per hour.
