Bright Silicon Technologies seeks a mechanical engineer with hands-on optomechanical design experience to own key assemblies in the OCTANE terminal. You will model thermal behavior to ensure stable alignment across operating conditions.
You will select optical components with the team, apply design-for-manufacturability, and perform tolerance analyses while integrating assemblies into the system. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bright Silicon Technologies (BST) is replacing vulnerable RF links and bulky mechanical gimbals with solid-state optical solutions. We are defining a new era in lasercoms, going from single-point static links to multi-point agile networks. Our flagship product, OCTANE (Optical Communication Terminal for Advanced NEtworking), is an un-jammable, RF-silent free-space optical terminal delivering secure, high-bandwidth data transport across airborne platforms and ground vehicles and stations, enabling dense mesh networks on high-mobility platforms.
We’re looking for a mechanical engineer who combines precision optomechanical design experience with a hands‑on approach to building and integrating optical systems. You’ll own key optomechanical assemblies within the terminal, select optical components, and design robust mounting systems for a range of operating environments. This is an opportunity to help deploy the next generation of optical MEMS technology.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At BST we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
At Bright, we build precision optical systems to guide data for a new era of communication. Our team combines precision engineering, optical design, and product development to commercialize the Lightfield Directing Array. Applications include laser communications, optical switching for data centers, lidar, and additive manufacturing.
Founded in 2020, Bright Silicon Technologies is building an enduring technology manufacturing company. You’ll contribute to the development, launch, and scaling of advanced optical products. We offer competitive salaries and equity incentives, and we value effective engineering alongside long‑term work/life balance.
