Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking an Engineer II in Newton, NJ to research, design, and coordinate mechanical products and systems for our photonics instruments. You will lead fabrication planning, verify designs meet customer specs, and mentor junior staff within a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, 4+ years of design experience, and proficiency with SolidWorks. Occasional duties at other Thorlabs locations may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of mechanical engineering design experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Design opto-mechanical products for instruments and systems.
• Evaluate design requirements and feasibility; plan fabrication methods.
• Direct fabrication and installation to meet specifications and standards.
• Mentor peers and coordinate with planning, manufacturing, and assembly.
