Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense in Orlando, FL is seeking a hands-on mechanical engineer to join the Surveillance Systems Division. You will work on high‑performance imaging and laser systems, designing, analyzing, and testing opto‑mechanical assemblies with cross‑location collaboration.

You will align optical components, ensure mechanical specifications, and contribute within a multi‑disciplinary team to meet mission‑critical objectives. U.S. citizenship is a program requirement.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ experience with the design, test and/or analysis of precision mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • BS in Mechanical
  • Experience aligning or designing alignment tooling for Optical Systems preferred
  • Designing with a solid modeling CAD program (SolidWorks and EPDM a plus)
  • Ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field and good knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in working within a multi‑disciplinary team in a fast paced, technically challenging environment
  • Due to program requirements, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Responsibilities

  • Design and testing of complex opto‑mechanical mechanisms and optical systems
  • Support the alignment of optical components and subsystems
  • Geometric Tolerancing per ANSI/ASME Y14.5M
  • Responsible for the mechanical specifications and planning related to electro‑optical system design and testing
  • Effective communication among cross discipline team located in multiple sites
