Job summary

Atlas Copco, a global technology leader with a 150-year legacy, seeks an Optimization Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI. You will collaborate with Data Driven Services, perform on-site bolted joint optimization at customer facilities, and analyze torque-to-failure and ultrasonic bolt load tests to improve joint quality and ergonomics.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical or management discipline.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, especially in motor vehicle assembly and optimization.
• Expert level presentation skills with comfort in front of a camera for training content.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, and lead customers and peers.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% for customer visits and sales engagement.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data Driven Services to accelerate connectivity with customers and contribute to the SCE BL and ACTA teams.
• Develop strong working relationships with MVI and GIN colleagues through trust and collaboration.
• Perform on-site bolted joint optimization at customer facilities to improve joint quality, reduce cycle time, and minimize scrap and rework.
• Conduct bolted joint analysis in the Auburn Hills lab, including torque-to-failure and ultrasonic bolt load testing and automation feasibility studies.
• Create presentations, reports, and training materials to communicate findings and support Master Class training programs.
• Teach fastening concepts, coach customers, and facilitate meetings to diagnose challenges and define solution scopes.
• Lead or support customer-facing optimization meetings and manage lab projects from planning to execution and reporting.
• Build strong customer relationships to maximize value from Atlas Copco products and identify opportunities to expand solutions.
• Identify upsell opportunities and support MVI and GIN sales teams to promote optimization solutions.
