Job summary

ASML US in Wilton, CT seeks an experienced Optics Tooling Engineer to advance tooling development for Optical Fabrication, NPI, and CI initiatives. You will design tooling using Siemens NX and Teamcenter, manage AIR requests, and contribute to design reviews and ECN process.

Requires a Bachelor and Master in Mechanical Engineering with 7–10+ years in manufacturing or engineering, strong CAD skills, knowledge of SPC and Lean Six Sigma, and the ability to work safely and within quality standards.

  • Participate in ECN reviews and provide factory input.
  • Create presentations for design reviews and assist with tool qualification.
  • Place purchase orders for machined and catalog components.
  • Assist Process Engineer in tool qualification and release to production.
  • Support CI opportunities in Optical Fabrication processes.
  • Recommend cost-effective tooling designs while meeting requirements.

Role and responsibilities

The Optics Tooling Engineer supports Optical Fabrication operations by assisting in process tooling development, documentation, and quality improvement initiatives to support both New Product Introductions (NPI) and volume production. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer eager to contribute to new product introductions and continuous improvement projects in a collaborative, dynamic environment.



  • Design Optical Fabrication tooling using Siemens NX & Teamcenter CAD software to create technical product documentation (TPD) for manufacture.

  • Maintain new tooling requests in the ASML Issue Resolution (AIR) system; provide progress updates and timeline to give clarity and visibility to stakeholders.

  • Host Gemba walks in Optical Fabrication work centers to fully understand new tooling requests.

  • Host formal tooling request intake, PFMEA, DFMEA and design review sessions.

  • Participate in Engineering Change Notice (ECN) reviews and provide factory input.

  • Create PowerPoint presentations for larger design projects to review at design reviews.

  • Place purchase orders through the EasyBuy system for custom machined components and catalog components.

  • Use hand tools to assemble the new tooling and support the Process Engineer in the qualification and release of the tool to Production.

  • Embrace the Lean Manufacturing philosophy and look for opportunities for Continuous Improvements (CI’s) in all areas of the Optical Fabrication processes.

  • Recommend alternatives to tooling designs that will allow for cost effective manufacturing of the product while still meeting design requirements.

  • Complete all mandatory trainings in myLearning before the due date.

  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.


Education and experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) required with 10+ years in manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) required with 7+ years in manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes and quality principles.

  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Familiarity with CAD tools (Siemens NX, SolidWorks).

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, automation).

  • Understanding of SPC, data analysis, and Lean/Six Sigma principles.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Can work according to safety standards and quality compliance requirements.
