Job summary

Qualifications

• ABO Certification or state licensure required.
• Technical proficiency in optical dispensing and patient care.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Experience with eyeglass fittings, measurements, and repairs.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterans with frame selection and eyewear recommendations
• Perform optical measurements including pupillary distance (PD), segment heights, and base curves
• Verify eyeglass prescription specifications from VA Optometry/Ophthalmology clinics
• Fit, adjust, and dispense eyeglasses
• Perform minor repairs including screw replacement, nose pad replacement, and frame adjustments
• Document patient care accurately within CPRS/EHR systems
• Maintain compliance with VA, HIPAA, Joint Commission, and CMS standards
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional interactions with Veterans and VA staff
• Ensure optical equipment and tools are maintained in proper working condition
• Participate in required VA training and background clearance processes
• Previous experience in a VA, hospital, or medical clinic environment (preferred)
