Job summary

Observable Space in Detroit, MI is seeking an Optical Technical Lead to join our space optics team. You will learn manufacturing processes on the job, inspect incoming glass and components for quality, and perform quality checks throughout production.

You will examine mirrors for imperfections, assist with production and finishing of precision mirrors, and learn to safely operate optics equipment while documenting inspection results.

Responsibilities

  • Learn optics manufacturing processes through hands-on, on-the-job training.
  • Inspect incoming glass and components to ensure quality.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Examine mirrors for scratches, blemishes and surface imperfections.
  • Assist with production and finishing of precision mirrors.
  • Learn to safely operate optics manufacturing equipment and tools.
  • Accurately complete inspection and production documentation.
