Job summary

Corning Inc. in Newton, NC, seeks an experienced optical manufacturing leader to provide technical leadership for optical communications manufacturing by improving product quality, equipment reliability, testing capability, and cost performance across North American cable plants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optics, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, systems development, or a related technical field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of optics, statistics, process optimization, and measurement systems.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing data and supporting fiber or cable products.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • 7+ years in optical cable manufacturing or related engineering.
  • Experience with optical testing, measurement systems, and fiber handling.
  • Cross-functional project leadership and process optimization experience.
  • Experience with data analytics, automation, and new product introductions.
  • Six Sigma or MSA experience preferred.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Provide technical leadership for optical communications manufacturing by improving product quality, equipment reliability, testing capability, and cost performance across North American cable plants.

Key Responsibilities

Experiences/Education - Required

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.


The range for this position is$112,902.00-$155,240.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
