Job summary

AOI in Sugar Land, Texas, is seeking a Manager of Optical Module & Device Integration to build and lead an engineering team that works with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and reliability to improve product performance and support new product introductions.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, strong leadership, and the ability to resolve complex integration challenges through data-driven analysis and structured problem solving, with on-site work in Sugar Land.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, optics, physics, materials science, or a related field.
• Experience in optical devices, optical module development, alignment, testing, or manufacturing integration.
• Ability to analyze technical problems and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
• Experience leading an engineering team or projects and developing team members.
• Clear communication and willingness to learn beyond primary area of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead an integration team supporting optical modules and devices from development through production.
• Manage staffing, workload, and performance, including hiring, setting individual goals, coaching engineers, and conducting performance reviews.
• Coordinate with device, optical, electrical, and packaging engineers to address integration challenges and meet product requirements.
• Lead troubleshooting of performance, assembly, yield, and reliability issues using test data and structured problem-solving.
• Support new product introduction, process transfer, and manufacturing readiness, including assembly and test requirements.
• Establish project priorities, track improvement activities, and communicate technical progress across teams.
