Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking an Optical Hardware Engineer to join the Optical Engineering team. The role focuses on optics hardware testing and sustaining engineering for qualifying optics testing across HPE's routing and switching platforms.

The position is onsite with expectation to work mainly from an HPE office, on a hybrid basis up to 3 days in the office per week in Sunnyvale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• 2+ years of optical transceiver module specification and test experience.
• Experience with optical testing modules per IEEE/MSA specs.
• Knowledge of optical and electrical testing equipment and automation software.

Responsibilities

• Develop pluggable optical/electrical transceiver specifications based on IEEE/MSA standards.
• Engage with optical transceiver suppliers on specifications and requirements.
• Create test plans to address verification requirements.
• Build test stations using optical and electrical equipment.
• Create test automation to execute testing and store results.
• Conduct performance characterization and qualification testing.
• Collaborate with Signal Integrity and System Hardware teams during optics integration.
• Support customer service with optics failure root cause analysis.
• Support interoperability with third-party networking equipment.
