Job summary

Cowboy Space in San Carlos is seeking an Optical Engineer to design and build the free-space optical path for our laser communications system. You will be integral to the optical link's design, working alongside various engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Optical Engineering or Physics and at least 3 years of experience with optical systems, particularly in aerospace or defense environments. The role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in designing free-space optical systems.
• Experience with optical tolerance budgeting including Monte Carlo methods.
• Hands-on experience with aligning and characterizing optical assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize free-space optical assemblies.
• Build and maintain optical system models.
• Define optical interface specifications for mechanical design.
