Intuitive in Roanoke, VA seeks an experienced Optical Engineer to lead design, development, and testing of advanced optical systems for ML/AI medical applications. You will bridge optics, biomed engineering, and AI to turn complex optical data into actionable diagnostic insights, joining a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team.

Applicants should hold a PhD and have hands-on experience with Zemax/CODE V and scripting in Python or MATLAB.

Qualifications

• PhD required in a closely related field (Optics / Optical Engineering / Physics).
• Deep knowledge of optical system design, wave optics, and ray tracing.
• Experience with optical CAD tools and scripting for automation.

Responsabilités

• Testing & integration of custom optical systems with rigorous lab validation.
• AI/ML pipeline collaboration to optimize optics for AI feature extraction and data acquisition.
• End-to-end design, modeling, and prototyping of optical systems for medical imaging and sensing.
• Collaborate with biomedical, mechanical, firmware engineers and clinicians to integrate optics into devices.
• Maintain design docs, schematics, test protocols, and histories per medical device standards.
