Job summary

Xcimer Energy, headquartered in Denver, CO, seeks an Optical Coatings Materials Scientist to advance fluorine-resistant coatings for laser-facing components. You will perform hands-on deposition, material characterization, and scale lab developments toward pilot and production environments.

The role requires a PhD in a related field and 5–10 years of coating experience, with strong data analysis, DOE design, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics or closely related field.
• 5–10 years of industry experience in coating development or related fields.
• Experience developing optical or protective coatings for harsh environments.
• Strong understanding of thin film deposition processes and coating performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize fluorine-resistant optical coatings for laser-facing components.
• Lead coating deposition efforts, including thin film development and substrate prep.
• Design tests and DOE to assess adhesion, durability, and optical performance.
• Collaborate with optics, materials, and system teams to scale processes to production.
