Job summary

Eyeconic in California is seeking an Optical Associate/Optician to attract and retain customers by delivering outstanding service, and to drive store sales through effective retail skills and the Total Customer Experience model.

You will fill ophthalmic prescriptions, measure pupillary distance and bridge size, recommend lenses and frames, and build professional relationships with associates, hosts, and doctors while aligning with marketing programs.

Qualifications

• Applicable State licensure or certification by a nationally recognized optician association as an optician.
• Ability to sell through use of sales skills and accountability for sales results.
• Experience with a retail or customer service establishment.
• Ability to communicate enthusiastically to meet/exceed customer expectations and foster positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fit and adapt lenses and frames.
• Measure bridge size, eye size, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames to suit customer needs.
• Develop relationships with Associates, Host, and Doctor.
• Assist with marketing programs and ensure host satisfaction.
• Other duties as assigned by Optical Manager.

Job description

The basic function of the Optical Associate, Optician is to attract and retain customers by delivering exceptional customer service, fostering customer retention, and promoting outstanding associate/doctor satisfaction.

Drive profitable store sales by fostering a customer care culture through practicing and using effective retail sales skills utilizing the Total Customer Experience Model

Develop professional business relationships with other Associates, Host, and Doctor

Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fit and adapt lenses and frames, including but not limited to the following:

• Utilizing optical prescription, evaluate prescription in conjunction with customer's visual requirements
• Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit customer needs
• Assist customers in the selection of frames and coordinate frames with optical measurements and prescription
• Conduct measurements of bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers using appropriate tools

Ensure high quality through accurate measurements, correct pricing, and realistic delivery time quotes

Maximize Managed Vision Care relationships and sales opportunities as measured by:

• Effective plan administration and local service
• Improvements in average transaction
• Locally initiated plans

Assist with the timely implementation of approved Marketing programs by the execution of marketing programs and initiatives

Ensure positive and productive host relationships through Host participation, support, and satisfaction measured by Patient Satisfaction Surveys

Other duties as assigned by Optical Manager

Typically Has The Following Skills Or Abilities

Success in store merchandising and attention to detail

Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In Related Field

For roles that are remote (i.e., Work From Home (WFM)) or hybrid (i.e., partial onsite at a VSP location and WFM), must demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings to support effective communication and team alignment

Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
