Job summary

Qualifications

• Citizen of the United States; non-citizens may be appointed when recruitment is difficult.
• One year of experience in a health care field such as nursing or health technician.
• Two years above high school or an associate's degree in a health care related field.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and education are qualifying.
• Certification as Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by JCAHPO is required.
• MRAs must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical clinical care to patients under supervision of ophthalmologists.
• Assist with diagnosis, treatment, prevention, follow-up care and patient counseling.
• Comply with VA qualification standards and performance criteria.
