Job summary

A healthcare network in White Plains is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support our ophthalmologists. Job Description
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
  • Perform visual acuity screenings
  • Take ocular measurements, both anatomical and functional
  • Perform a variety of Ophthalmic testing
  • Gather cataract measurements
  • Administer or prepare ocular medications
  • Perform refractometry (measurements for the glasses prescription using the auto refractor)
  • Provide eye care and contact lens information to the patient
  • Maintain and clean ophthalmic instruments
  • Assist the ophthalmologist in basic procedures
  • Obtain prior authorizations for in office and ambulatory surgical procedures
  • Schedule appointments
  • Clarify pre‑op and post‑op instructions with patients
  • Process pharmacy requests, patient phone calls, and provider messages appropriately
  • Stock and maintain examination rooms
  • Perform retinal photographs utilizing a Digital Retinal Camera
  • Perform clinical skills following procedural guidelines
  • Adhere to infection control safety and OSHA guidelines
Required Qualifications
  • COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) Certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of prior Ophthalmology experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathetic personality giving attention to patient’s needs and concerns
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Flexibility to travel to other sites when needed
  • Computer literacy and fast learner

Pay Range: $21.30 - $26.15 Hourly
