Job summary

EyeCare Partners - Virginia Eye Consultants in Norfolk, VA seeks a Certified Surgical Technician (PRN). The role supports surgeons, nurses, and assistants to deliver high-quality patient care in the operating room. RESPONSIBILITIES include scrubbing cases, ensuring availability of instruments and supplies, and maintaining sterile technique.

Qualifications

• Minimum Required: High School diploma or GED
• Minimum Required: Two (2) years of hospital main operating room experience preferred
• HIPAA compliance is required

Responsibilities

• Performs duties ethically and legally within certification scope
• Scrubs all case types performed
• Anticipates surgeon needs and has equipment, gases, and supplies ready for procedures
• Adheres to work schedule, stays organized and cost-effective
• Participates in continuing education/in-service training and QA programs
• Assists in orientation of new staff and maintains sterile technique
• Prepares operating room and instruments; ensures equipment works and solutions are labeled
• Maintains records of medications and specimens; passes instruments to staff
• Gathers supplies and anticipates needs for each case
• Assists with patient transfer to PACU and room restock
• Operates sterilizer, lights, suction, and other OR equipment
• Handles patient prep, draping, and positioning for surgery
