Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat periorbital and eyelid conditions and perform oculoplastic procedures.
  • Collaborate with Geisinger Eye Institute and related subspecialties to provide comprehensive care.
  • Participate in resident education and residency program development.
  • Maintain a high-volume surgical practice including both outpatient and in-clinic procedures.

Geisinger is seeking a full-time board-certified/eligible, ASOPRS fellowship-trained specialist in Oculoplastics to fill a rewarding position in the Department of Ophthalmology at the new Healthplex in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Located near Scranton/ Wilkes Barre in Northeast PA, close to the Pocono Mountains. Geisinger Eye Institute: a driven, successful, and growing multi-specialty group integrating both optometric and ophthalmologic services.Candidates with an interest in resident education and residency program development are encouraged to apply.

  • Threesurgical facilities- An outpatient surgery center located in our clinic building andtwo at nearby Geisinger Hospitals
  • Advanced technologies in diagnostics including HVF, OCT (Zeiss with Glaucoma Workplace and Heidelberg), FA, Fundus Camera, IOL Master, Immersion, Pentacamand Topography
  • Treatment options, including SLT Laser , YAG Laser, Argon Laser, (Diode CPC) Support from a PA-C's and partnering with SCRIBES
  • Shared call (home call)
  • A large referral base from our onsite Optometrists, local Ophthalmologists and physicians in our satellite offices
  • High surgical volume, with opportunities for comprehensive practice with cataract and glaucoma surgery Opportunities to develop new program, andperform researchata large, tertiary referral center

Ability to take on a growing practice complete with onsite Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cataract, and Pediatric services, as well as a built-in referral network to offsite Retina, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics, and other subspecialties

Position Details:

Plastic and reconstructive surgery of the periorbital and facial tissues, including eyelids and eyebrows, cheeks, orbit and lacrimal (tear) system. Eye plastic surgeons are ophthalmologists who have completed extensive postresidency training in this unique subspecialty. This is a highly specialized area of plastic surgery that focuses on the area around the eyes, forehead and midface. These include drooping eyelids (ptosis), eyelid malposition (entropion, ectropion) and eyelash abnormalities. They treat tumors of the eyelids and orbit, trauma, congenital abnormalities, thyroid eye disease, tearing problems and blinking difficulties (blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm).

  • Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.May prescribeor adminstermedications.Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that includepatients'histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
