Qualifications

Overview

An award-winning, independent community hospital in Vermont is seeking a dynamic Ophthalmology Medical Director to lead a thriving, hospital-employed practice. This is a premier leadership and clinical opportunity to guide a high-volume, collaborative team while delivering exceptional surgical and medical eye care to central and southern Vermont.

What you'll do

• Serve as Medical Director for the Ophthalmology practice, setting clinical protocols, driving quality initiatives, and fostering team collaboration.


• Maximize efficiency within dedicated OR blocks in a modern, well-equipped procedure center designed for high-volume surgeries.


• Manage an established patient panel, providing top-tier medical and surgical ophthalmic care.


• Participate in an equitable 1:4 call rotation with a historically minimal call burden.


• Collaborate with an additional ophthalmologist, an optometrist, and a team of Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COAs).

Required qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.


• Successful completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency program.


• Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the American Board of Ophthalmology.


• Active, unrestricted medical license in Vermont (or immediate eligibility to obtain one).


• Proven clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and readiness for a clinical leadership role.

Compensation and benefits

• Base salary of $350k-$450k per year, aligned with qualifications, training, and experience.
