U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an entry level Health Technician (Ophthalmology) in California. The role performs limited routine tasks under daily supervision and records vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and glucose levels.

The position requires COA certification, a health care education background, and progression through GS-5 to GS-8 with increasing responsibilities. Clinical duties include minor ophthalmic testing and patient education within outpatient care.

Competenze

• One year of experience in a health care field (e.g., nursing, medical assistant, or health technician).
• Two years above high school with six semester hours in a health care field or an associate's degree in a health care related degree.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and education are qualifying.
• All applicants must be certified as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) with the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
• The full performance level is GS-8; eligible grade range GS-5 to GS-8.
