About the Role

We are seeking a cornea fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with expertise in cataract and advanced anterior segment surgery to join a medically focused, referral-driven ophthalmology practice. This role is designed for a surgeon who combines high-level technical skill with sound clinical judgment, and who functions as a trusted tertiary-level resource for optometrists, ophthalmologists, and referring physicians across the region.

The position emphasizes excellence in both routine and complex anterior segment care, with an expectation of leadership in corneal disease management, surgical decision-making, and collaborative care models.

What You'll Do
Clinical Scope

The surgeon will provide comprehensive corneal and anterior segment surgical care, including:

  • Corneal cross-linking for ecstatic disease
  • Surgical and medical management of complex corneal pathology, including dystrophies, scars, endothelial disease, and inflammatory conditions
  • Collaborative pre-operative and post-operative management, working closely with medically focused optometrists and ophthalmology colleagues

The role prioritizes appropriate case selection, surgical precision, and longitudinal outcomes, with an emphasis on escalation, consultation, and shared decision-making when indicated.

Professional Expectations

Surgeons in this role are expected to:

  • Maintain the highest standards of surgical excellence and ethical practice
  • Provide clear, thoughtful communication to patients and referring providers
  • Serve as a regional clinical resource for corneal disease and advanced anterior segment care
  • Support and enhance shared-care models through collaboration, education, and accessibility
  • Contribute to clinical quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

Referring physicians should view this surgeon as a trusted extension of their practice for complex corneal and anterior segment cases.

This position carries a visible leadership component. Successful candidates actively develop a strong professional reputation through:

  • Engagement with referring optometrists and ophthalmologists
  • Participation in professional societies, specialty meetings, and educational forums
  • Teaching, lecturing, or mentorship in cornea and anterior segment disease
