Job summary

UPMC is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician to support the Ophthalmology Department at 4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224. The full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m., with no weekends or holidays, offering a strong work-life balance. You will work closely with ophthalmologists and clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care, perform diagnostic testing, collect histories, assist with examinations and procedures, and support treatment of a wide range of eye

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in an Ophthalmology office or related education/experience preferred.
  • Completion of AAO Home Study Course is preferred.
  • CPR certification required; Act 31/33/34 with renewal; Act 73 FBI clearance with renewal.

Responsibilities

  • History taking to include ocular, medical, medication, social and family history.
  • Visual acuity assessment and refractive testing as part of examinations.
  • Tonometry and lensometry with proper infection control and disinfection.
  • Assist with maintaining office inventory, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and travel to other sites.
