Job summary

Allina Health Hastings Clinic seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to perform preliminary ocular testing, vision screening and prep patients for exams or in-office surgery. Operate lensometer/keratometer/ophthalmometer as needed, schedule procedures, and support post-operative visits in a multi-site ophthalmology group.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years medical/optical experience.
• Knowledge of complete eye exam tests and procedures and surgical assisting procedures.
• High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical Ophthalmic Technician program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient and collect vital signs, allergies and chief complaint.
• Perform preliminary and advanced ophthalmic testing.
• Administer medications as needed for examination.
• Operate ophthalmic instruments (lensometer, keratometer, ophthalmometer).
• Schedule surgeries and coordinate referrals and pre/postoperative visits.
• Maintain electronic medical record documentation and patient rooms.
