Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is hiring an Ophthalmology Assistant for the Burnet Campus. This full-time, day-shift role supports clinicians by performing patient intake, assisting with measurements, and preparing examination rooms and equipment to enable efficient ophthalmology care.

You will help with diagnostic procedures such as visual acuity tests and pupil assessment, follow standard job-specific protocols, and provide direct patient care under supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant preferred.
  • No directly related experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary Location Burnet Campus Department Ophthalmology Shift Day (United States of America) Schedule Full time Weekly Hours 40 FTE 1 Employee Status Regular *Expected Starting Pay Range $22.18 - $27.73 *Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on‑call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Test Measurement - Provides direct patient care by helping the clinician with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures by performing job specific standards including patient intake, measurement of strabismus, extraocular rotation exam, sensory testing, pupil assessment, visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, color vision testing, and visual field testing.
  • Technical Support - Provides clinical support with set up and maintain examining room, equipment and supplies, escort patients to examining rooms, complete school and other miscellaneous forms. To independently provide clinician and clinic support for the Ophthalmology department.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No directly related experience
  • Preferred: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
